Loss, at any point in your journey
Losing a baby at any stage of gestation or infancy is the loss of a loved individual, and the hopes and dreams you had for them and yourself. I witnessed the legacy of loss in my family, and I am so grateful for the training I have received through Loss Doulas International. I am prepared to offer information, resources, and practical help to families or individuals experiencing or expecting miscarriage, medical interruption, stillbirth, or infant loss. Doula support can help you to slow things down to make the most of the time you have, learn your options, and make mindful informed decisions.
Doula support offers benefits such as:
-
a sense that someone bears witness to your experience
-
a caring presence to reduce fear
-
a consistent supporter to mother and family despite staff shift changes
Care may begin at any time, with the course of care including some or all of the following:
-
an initial contact/consultation
-
phone or email information and support
-
in-person visits
-

-

-
postpartum support, including management of lactation

the Breastfeeding relationship is natural, but not always easy...
A Certified Lactation Counsellor (CLC) is dedicated to the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding, and works to prevent and solve breastfeeding problems. Early and timely help is vital, and can begin with prenatal education, optimal birth, appropriate postpartum contact between baby and mom, and choices that support lactation.
Support is included for birth clients; however, a CLC can come on board at any time to support your breastfeeding goals. Swift help is always preferred, ideally within 24 hours of an issue cropping up, and at any time of transition such as back-to-work, new pregnancy/tandem nursing, or weaning.
-
Initial assessment 2-3 hours, in home/hospital visit to discuss history and issues, observe feeding(s), provide corrective measures, counsel next steps
-
Support by phone/text/email
-
Follow-up visit 2-3 hours
Course of Care $350 or $50 per hour
